  35. adhd-hippie said: we will have to consume less and we will have to be more thoughtful about what we consume. Sitting around waiting for corporations to change, or for the government to get on your side is wasting time. Vote for the right candidates heck yes, but also CHANGE YOUR BEHAVIOR. Otherwise your fighting with one hand tied.
  36. adhd-hippie said: What about clothes, are you willing to forsake your $5 H&M t-shirts because either the environment and the people making them suffer or you get fewer clothes with much higher price tags. We have to accept that in order to change the world and bring an end to global climate change we have a part to play as consumers.
  37. adhd-hippie said: There are lots and lots of very harmful industries that THRIVE because consumer demand for the things they produce is high. Animal agriculture accounts for more green house gasses than ALL forms of transportation. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY to produce enough meat for everyone on the planet to continue consuming at the standard rate without environmental costs.
  38. adhd-hippie said: @mistfather Okay yes true, voting with your dollar is less effective than voting with your actual vote. Now answer me this, is the government supposed to mandate how much we can each purchase each month? Is it supposed to control how much meat each person can eat? Is it supposed to determine how many times you can use your car or fly? Is the government supposed to decide what clothes you buy?
