Garak and Parmak (and Edosian orchid pattern) by lalasara

Now with a picture for attention. It’s not actual illustration (there in no such scene in it) but it has everything to do with the fic.

I finished my fist (out of five or six) episode of Garashir I was planning to write for five years now. I need beta. I’m Russian and I wrote it in English. I’m not confident enough to post it not beta-ed. It’s written in script form so it’s mostly dialogues. It’s low rating yet - only kisses. Other episodes will have higher rating. Second episode will include Julian/Ezri in flashbacks. All episodes include Garak with someone in flashbacks and whatnot (you will be disappointed by what I did with Parmak in this one, though - I’m warning you. But then maybe not…) I also should warn you that I took some of beta-universe (books and stuff) lore right up to 2385 year but not all and not always how it seems. And it could be difficult to understand what is extended universe canon and what is my headcanon if you didn’t read Memory Beta at least.
If you can’t be my beta but want to help please reblog, maybe one of your followers can be. I’m not sure I have enough followers from this fandom.
The series called “E’Vira” and this part “Reality Check”.
There have been ten years after they last saw each other face to face and Garak greets Julian with a kiss. Because he thinks that Julian is his hallucination. Or is it the other way around?
I dreamcasted James Callis as Kelas Parmak but as Cardassian he is unrecognisable, alas. Or I can’t draw at all.
(Please don’t remove my plea for beta. I won’t post fic till I find beta!)

postcanon garak/parmak!!! (3 sentence fic thingy <3)

Forgiving Garak is a conscious decision, one he makes for his own peace of mind long before Cardassia is destroyed, and one he admittedly makes when he fully expects never again to be confronted with the man who ruined his life. When, as what Terrans might call Sod’s Law kicks in, he inevitably is and spends the next few hours vibrating out of his skin and trying not to scream, it’s a decision that’s a little hard to stick to – but Kelas Parmak is a tenacious man and Garak is not just a colleague in the effort to rebuild their world but also (and more importantly) a patient, so he grits his teeth and does his best.

Somewhere among the rebuilding and the chaos, between the hallucinations and the hyperventilation and the slightly-clumsy honesty Garak manages to offer up despite force of habit even while lucid, though, he finds he’s made an unconscious decision, too – one that ought to worry him a great deal more than it does, but as he looks into those eyes (his eyes, his eyes) and realises that he trusts this man, this murderer-torturer-liar, not just with his life but with the fate of their entire world, he can’t bring himself to feel anything less than wonderful.

Garak and Bashir and Parmak

Julian has shared a bed with more than one person before, of course, in situations romantic and platonic and not-exactly-either, and has never dreamed of using the phrase ‘three’s a crowd’, but it’s usually been a larger bed than this, and it hasn’t been on Cardassia in the summer, and it definitely hasn’t usually been with a pair of Cardassians, who are – even taking into account the malnutrition on Cardassia since the Dominion War, and the fact that Parmak is relatively slender for a Cardassian – built like tanks. Julian is, at the risk of sounding a little melodramatic, fucking dying, and he articulates this (through a mouthful of Parmak’s usually-beautiful-but-right-now-really-goddamn-annoying hair) a few times, at regular intervals, between the hours of dawn and ten past dawn, in the hopes of assistance in extracting himself from the hell that is being crushed under a sheet between two large lizards (whom he loves very much, etc, obviously) on a pallet bed in at least 40 C heat.

Finally, Parmak – angel that he is! a thousand blessings on his soul! – takes mercy with a grumble and slips out of bed in the direction of the kitchen, and Julian takes a moment to spread out on top of the sheet and relish being able to breathe… at least for the few moments until Beloved Husband #1 returns, accompanied by undignified snickering from Beloved Husband #2, which is – alarming, actually, and Julian opens his eyes just in time to see Suddenly A Whole Lot Less Beloved Husband #1 upturning a tray of ice-cubes over him, and he only just has time to scream.

I’m looking through my ST art folders to see if there are any sketches I’ve never posted or anything I want to finish, and I come across a file named “Kelas_Cooks.” I’m like, I don’t remember drawing that! What is it?!

And I open it…

And it’s a completely blank image.

WTF, me?? Got me all excited for nothing?? And I don’t even remember what it was supposed to be!

Parmaks’ hair

queer-normative:

guljeri:

Long hair seems to be a female thing in Cardassian culture. So I often wonder about Parmak’s choice to wear his hair long.

Does he just like it long?

Is he expressing that he doesn’t gaf about gender roles?

Is he not cis?

Is he just expressing his feminine side?

Does he like for Garak to pull it?

I want to know about Parmaks’ hair.

Give me your ideas.

I’m 99% sure i-fought-space has written a dissertation on Parmak’s hair. At least, there’s 2 long posts, and his hair takes up a good chunk of one.

Personally, I think because women dominate the sciences in Cardassian culture, he originally started growing his hair out to not stick out as much. “See? I have feminine traits. My opinion can be just as valid. Don’t discount me just yet.”

As he continued, he also explored feminine fashion, more feminine speech and behavior patterns, more feminine habits, and it was just comfortable. Very comfortable. Almost alarmingly comfortable. Like more so than when he was presenting as male.

Depending on who asks, he’ll say his hair, style, and personality are a mark of his trade and a testament to his competence in doctoring, and yes, he is a man, but something like chromosomes doesn’t actually affect his skill “and don’t fall for those sexist stereotypes so easily or you’ll end up dismissing someone you shouldn’t.”

But for people he knows, and people he’s close to, he’ll admit he’s not quite sure he’s either male or female. Quietly. And even that probably takes some prying.

Because he is still unlearning a lot of things and learning about himself, because he still hasn’t had the time to actually think through it and focus on himself. He’s always managed to be busy, from his time with Tain, to the prison camp, to all the wars Cardassia had after, and then after the Dominion–he’s been too busy helping others, or surviving, or saving lives to puzzle out something that he thinks should be so simple as gender.

He knows who he is as a person. He is kind, he is strong, and he is above all else a doctor.
