KELAS PARMAK HEADCANONS FOR YOOOOOOOU

Parmak has subtle scars and callouses on his hands, although he’s taken as much care of them as he could, but he doesn’t have the sensitivity he used to. Hard physical labor will do that- it’ll mess up your hands, and while he worked he was terrified that he’d lose sensation or lose a finger or his hands would otherwise be damaged and crippled, meaning he’d never be able to return to medical work.

In the labor camp, he’d often do emergency first aid for other prisoners and workers, when guards didn’t care about anything short of a broke bone or fatal bleeding. Other prisoners started seeking him out when they needed help, and he got in a bit of trouble for needing replacement clothes so often when he’d tear up his spare uniforms for splints and bandages.

Once he’d finished his punishment, it took a while for him to find work again. While having to work in a labor camp isn’t as big of a deal as it might be (I guess that on Cardassia it’s like “where’s bob?” “oh, he’s in a fucking labor camp“ "oh, that sucks.”) the medical profession is a fairly high-class job and having the stigma of “THREAT TO STATE SECRETS” on you isn’t a great one. He eventually wound up working in a service-class hospital and actually liked it much better than when he was a private doctor for the wealthy.

WAY BACK IN SCHOOL Parmak was one of only two young men in a class of mostly women in the medical school and when several jerk young ladies would harass them because “Men can’t even do anything with their hair except slick it back, how can anyone expect them to perform surgery?” he grew his hair out in defiance and started wearing it in plaits and ponytails, even though Cardassian men are expected to be homogenous in appearance.

He was also considered to be the far handsomer of the two boys.

Parmak is great with kids, in that when he’s working with them he just wants to answer ALL their questions and foster their interest in EVERYTHING and is part of a movement to get young boys into STEM fields although post-canon he feels it’s kind of a moot point because there’s pretty much no social barriers for anybody on Cardassia anymore, since the culture has been rebuilding from the ground up.

Parmak and Keiko are totally BFFs and Parmak gets new plants and flowers from Keiko to give to Garak, and occasionally watches Molly and Yoshi for the O’Briens. Miles considers Parmak to be the single Cardassian he’s the most comfortable with, but attributes that to the time Parmak was over for a celebration and got hiccuping drunk and spent the better part of an hour obsessed with the concept of human freckles- which he called “speckles”.
